Team Challenge Competition – Point Betsie Trophy

Entry Application Deadline 2359 CDT July 1, 2026

Organize and enter a team of three monohulls from at least two divisions (but no more than one boat from the Cruising Division). As “Team Organizer”, you must have consent from the other two boats, and no boat can be on more than one team. The winning team will have the lowest combined division placement, adjusted for division sizes (division place divided by the number of boats entered). The winning team's name will be inscribed on the Point Betsie Trophy, and each boat will receive a flag during the awards ceremony on Mackinac Island. Also, during the November awards banquet, a take-home prize will be provided by The Storm Trysail Club.

Application shall be submitted by one boat from the team (the “Team Organizer”) with the consent of the other two boats. A minimum of six teams must enter by the July 1st deadline.

Official Team Challenge Entry Requirements and Instructions:

1) A team shall consist of three monohull boats from at least two (2) of the following divisions:

a) Mackinac Cup

b) Mackinac Trophy

c) Cruising 

2) A team may have no more than one (1) boat from the Cruising division.

3) No boat may be part of more than one (1) team. Each boat shall have consented to inclusion on the team and affirmed to the entry applicant ("Team Organizer") that it has not and will not consent to inclusion on any other team. The Team Organizer will make and retain a record of the date, communication method, and name of the Person In Charge or other authorized individual of the two other team boats consenting to inclusion in the team.

4) A minimum of six entered teams is required by 2359 CDT July 1 for the Team Challenge to be scored and prizes awarded.

5) Each team member will receive a division-size weighted score (division place divided by the number of boats entered in the division). The three division weighted scores will be added together for a Team Challenge Score. Lowest Team Challenge Score wins.

6) Any team members scored with an abbreviation under RRS A10 other than the following will be scored with a division place of number of division entries plus one:
